The last class my partner and I zoomed through all the assignments that came our way. We made a website about how to use mobile devices in the classroom. Although, IPhones and other smart phones are not allowed in some classes due to texting and distractions, they are now being used to help engage the student in the material. After all of my research and experiences with technology in the class room I think using smart phones in the classroom is a great idea. Students can research material and use their phones to help them engage in the lesson. Students will be researching their own topics and finding information on their own. They love being on their phones as is so if there was an App that enhanced their learning they would be so engaged in it. Students love to use the new technology especially the IPads. I am in a Kindergarten class room now and the students love when they are doing reading and writing centers and they get to move to the IPad station or the Smart board station. They are enjoying themselves while learning the material in a more fun and interactive way.

I also think that using smartphones in the classroom is a great idea. Why not integrate tools we already know students love into teaching? I am in a second grade classroom now and the students kill to get on the computer to look things up or play educational games so I think they would especially love using phones.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of using smart phones in class but I think it might create an issue for those students who do not have that technology. I do agree with students loving to get on these technology devices as much as they can since the 4th grade students that I have are the same way.
ReplyDeleteBefore your presentation I wasn't in favor of using smart phones in the classroom, but I can definitely see the benefit in using them now. As long as the students are being monitored and not abusing their power. I like how students can use their smart phones to look up information or use the many educational apps available to them.
